Union Township Parks

Finn Road Park is located approximately1.5 miles southwest from the Union Township Schools on Finn Road. The park is open 365 days per year, from 9:30am until dusk, weather permitting. It was purchased with the help of the NJ Green Acres local assistance program. The 132 acre park currently provides two Little League baseball/softball fields and one full sized baseball field, as well as three soccer fields, portable bathroom facilities, a playground for young children, snack shack, and picnic pavilion.

All playing fields and recreational programs are administered by the Union Township Recreation Committee.  Finn Road Park also includes a half mile walking path and 5K hiking trail. The half mile walking path is groomed and suitable for jogging and strollers. The 5K trail is a moderate hiking trail with irregular terrain utilizing paths through woodlands and mowed farm field perimeters.

Hoffman Park is open from 9 a.m. to sunset.

Directions from the East/Clinton Area: Take Route 78 west to exit 11. Follow the circle around to the left and cross over Route 78, following the signs for Pattenburg. Immediately after crossing 78, turn left at the light. Proceed to the remains of an old church and veer right onto Baptist Church Road. Proceed on Baptist Church Road under a railroad bridge and shortly thereafter turn left into the park entrance, which is marked by a large brown sign.

This 353 acre park is comprised of hardwood forest, grasslands, and 32 ponds of various sizes. It is the former farm of Albert and Joyce Hoffman, who began to acquire tracts of land in the late 1930's. They also owned land in four other townships and in the Nassau, Bahamas, where they lived from December until late June every year. The pastures on the farms were rented to farmers on a monthly fee per animal. Mr. Hoffman and his two brothers owned the Hoffman Beverage Company, which was founded by their father. Many of the Hoffman farm buildings still stand and are under the jurisdiction of Union Township

Millbrook Park is located approximately 2.8 miles NW from Union Township School off exit 11 of Rt. 78W on Strotz Road. The park currently provides a little league baseball/softball field and a full-size soccer field

Surrounded by the rolling hills of Hunterdon County, Spruce Run Recreation Area is popular with picnickers, swimmers, fishermen, boaters and campers. The reservoir was one of the first water supply facilities to be constructed and operated by the state and covers 1,290 acres with 15 miles of shoreline for recreation. Spruce Run is the third largest reservoir in the state after Round Valley and Wanaque reservoirs.

Directions: from the intersections of Interstate 78W and Route 31N, follow 31 north to the third traffic light – Van Syckles Road. Turn left and continue 1.5 miles to the Park entrance which is on the left.
